Default BMW X5 Audio Upgrade

Here are some pics of an X5 audio system upgrade. This has been done using a Motus Lab AGW+ processor, which allows to retain the original source equipment, and taps into it's signal in digital stage, thus there is no need for de-equalization.

This is what the iDrive menu looks like in the X5 we installed:

2 Pairs of Rainbow Audio Vanadium Cross Line 4" component speakers for front and rear doors, installed in the stock locations with adaptor rings.

Here's where we found some room for the sub enclosure.

Into the trunk:

To make the cabin completely free of audio equipment, we now needed to make room for the two amps that we were using. So we changed the way the factory amplifier was mounted to now be vertical rather than horizontal, and popped in the 2 Stegs there.

Amps in place. AGW+ with 3 pre-outs hooked up.

After setup, the processor wass tucked away in the space available behind the battery.

Yes, the original lid is replaced by a fabricated one, which has slits.

4" in a BMW X5. Doesnt it have a 3 way like Audi's , Mercs etc?

Too bad for a X5 to have 4"

Thats a very Neat install Ajay but like others said 4 inch & those tiny subs at that place wont have much impact right?

Btw is this Motus Lab AGW+ processor similar to the famed MS-8?

Older X5s had 3way provision in the doors. New ones have 4" + tweeter for mid-highs and underseat subwoofers.

True, but customer does not like his music too loud, anyway. Good quality sound was the priority.

The AGW+ is not like the MS8 or any of the other "famed" processors because this is the only one that hooks right into the MOST optical fiber digital entertainment network of the car, so no need to do all the speaker cable hook-up, de-equalization, signal summing etc, and the audio is pure and unequalizied since it is being tapped at the digital stage itself. Lastly, no need for additional displays, remote controls etc. All stock controls are retained.
